The confluence of two physical rivers Holy Ganga , Holy Yamuna & mythical river Holy Saraswathi is called Triveni Sangam. The two rivers are visibly different in colour. This is the place where Kumbh Mela is held once in 12 years as drop of Amrita fell from the Kumbh.
To reach the sangam one has to use rowing boat. One has to be careful while negotiating the price so also the priest who will be willing to do all the rituals at a hefty price. Best manthra is to bargain & bargain to the lowest price. All things used for the pooja is recycled except kumkum which gets dissolved in water. Cans are available in different sizes to carry back holy sangam water.

These three rivers are Ganga, Yamuna and the mystical Saraswati. However, the river Saraswati is invisible. According to popular beliefs, it flows underground and joins the two rivers. This Sangam is called Triveni Sangam. This confluence is at Prayaga which is Allahabad ‘s ancient name. The legendary Kumbha mela is held there every 12 years.
